O Uicipeid

Cha toigh leam “Clàr Ùineach” mar Ghàidhlig air “Period Table”. Tha mi a’ faicinn “Clàr Greiseagail” anns an duilleig seo aig Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu, ach cha toigh leam sin nas motha. Oir tha “ùineach” agus “greiseagach” a’ buntainn ri ùine, ri àm. B’ fhearr leam “Clàr Cuairteach” no “Clàr Pillteach”. Is dòcha gur e “Clàr Pillteach” as fhearr, oir tha “cuairteach” buailteach cearcall a chur ’nad chuimhne; agus tha “pillteach” agus “periodic” le chéile a’ tòiseachadh le ‘P’. Air neo dìreach “Clàr nan Eileamaidean”.

I made it Pillteach. It should probably be Clàr pillteach nan Eileamaiden for Periodic system of the elements in full then? I am a chemist and would love to learn more chemistry terms. So thanks!

Seo duilleagan feumail:

Tha mi a’ faicinn gur e ‘Carbon’ a th’ acasan agus aig am Faclair Beag seachas ‘Gualan’. Agus Alùmanam/Alùmanum seachas Alman. --Caoimhin (an deasbaireachd) 23:51, 31 dhen Mhàrt 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Both Gualan and Carbon seem to used, but a Gaelic speaker had opted for Gualan and if the language has its own term, why use another English loan?
Hm. Chan eil mi cinnteach! Tha learngaelic a' cleachdadh "carbon" ann an faclan fillte, ach sgrìobh Glasgow Gaelic School "haidro-gualan". Cha tug an duilleag seiceach tùs airson na h-ainmean. --CreagNamBathais (an deasbaireachd) 09:53, 5 dhen Ghiblean 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have been searching the internet and writing emails etc. to find an equivalent for electronegativity. Any suggestions? Gunmhoine (an deasbaireachd) 05:52, 1 dhen Ghiblean 2015 (UTC)[reply]
