Notes
InfoField
Description and date rely on the Griffith Institute, Oxford (1924-01-04) as well as on Howard Carter’s diary. According to the latter, the shrines were opened 1924-01-03, Burton present, while the diary notes “records” by Burton for 1924-01-04 only, so perhaps we see a kind of reenactment. Actually some work was needed for opening the third and the fourth door, unlikely with left-hand wings almost closed as on the present photograph.
