Sobre fondo Azur (Azul), el río Medellín atravesando un valle entre sendas montañas en Sinople (Verde)[...]. En la parte superior del escudo está colocada una banda en oro, en la que se lee la divisa "HOGAR Y TRABAJO", características que siempre han distinguido a los hijos de Girardota. Base o Pedestal. El escudo de Girardota con su respectiva banda va montado sobre un pedestal en esmalte sable. El blasón y divisiones del campo. Es de estilo francés. Su campo es cortado y partido en la parte superior, formando tres cuarteles así: dos cuarteles en la parte superior y un cuartel en la parte inferior. [1]
