'S e ollamh airson cruinn-eòlas eachdraidheil ann an Oilthigh Dhùn Èideann a tha ann an Charles W. J. Withers (FBA, FRSE). Rugadh e air 6 an Dùbhlachd 1954 agus fhuair e a chuid foghlaim ann an Daniel Stewart's College ann an Dùn Èideann, an uair sin chaidh e do dh'Oilthigh Chill Rìmhinn (B.Sc.) agus rinn e Ph.D. ann an Oilthigh Chambridge.
